WBA/WBO Lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (53-6-1, 39 KO) has expressed his interest in fighting WBO Jr Welterweight Champion Timothy Bradley (28-0, 12 KO) if he cannot get an immediate fourth fight with WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao. The bout would be contested at 140lbs with Timothy Bradley’s title at stake.
Their promoter, Bob Arum, might be reluctant to pair two of his stars against each other because the loser would probably be taken out of the Manny Pacquiao Sweepstakes. Conversely, the bout would be relatively easy to coordinate because Arum wouldn’t have to negotiate with another major promoter and Top Rank would keep a lion’s share of the revenue.
Bradley vs Marquez – “Let’s Make it Happen” In an interview this week with FightSaga, Bradley was very receptive to facing Juan Manuel Marquez whom he called a “great fighter.” Upon hearing from Top Rank Juan Manuel Marquez called him out, Bradley responded, “Let’s make it happen.”
