These last couple weeks, it?s seems as though there has been a drama story going on in regards to the WBC Middleweight Championship, with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Sergio Martinez, and Jose Sulaiman all sharing the staring role. One person who hasn?t been mentioned much in the script is Marco Antonio Rubio.
Most of us who have been following this saga, pretty much know the story about how Martinez was stripped of his WBC Middleweight Title, and it was mandated by the WBC, on more than one occasion, that he would be Chavez Junior?s next opponent, which never ended up happening.
Even though Chavez Jr. will be defending his WBC Middleweight Title on Feb. 4 against Rubio, all the talk seems to be about Sergio Martinez. A lot of people are questioning whether or not he will fight Martinez next, as if they automatically assume that he will beat Rubio. It?s hard to not get the impression that Rubio may be overlooked here. One has to wonder if Chavez Jr. is reading the headlines, and if he may be overlooking Rubio too. Is all the talk about Martinez, becoming a distraction for him?
