According to a Thursday morning report on PrimeraHora.com, it appears that WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto is seriously considering a move as a promotional free agent as his career pushes forward.
Cotto?s contract with Top Rank, who had promoted the Puerto Rican since his professional debut in February of 2001, ran out at the end of the year but it was widely thought he would work out a new deal with them. Instead, he is looking to follow the blueprint of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Oscar De La Hoya, who both spent time under Arum?s banner themselves but later spread their wings to fly solo in pursuit of bigger fights.
