A PIECE of Manny Pacquiao memorabilia will soon be on eBay where it will be available to the highest bidder.
Pacquiao’s American trainer Freddie Roach said he will put up for sale a set of beat-up white punch mitts on the online auction site very soon. Roach believes that people interested in owning a “piece of history” would bid for the item which the Filipino southpaw used during training at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood since last year.
Roach said the proceeds of the sale will go to charity.
Mitts are used for absorbing punches during practice. The ones planned to be sold on eBay were custom-made for him by a Mexican boxing gear distributor.
“The mitts are not branded because the guy who gave it to me even fit it on my hand,” said Roach, who has been Pacquiao’s trainer since 2001 when the fighter walked inside the Wild Card accompanied by former business manager Rod Nazario.
As a bonus, the highest bidder will be given a black-and-white photo-signed by Pacquiao – of Roach using the same mitts on Pacquiao during a workout at the Wild card.
“I have used the mitts on some other fighters at the Wild Card, but I believe it is Manny who made the most damage on those mitts,” added Roach, whose hands have become numb because of the constant striking of Pacquiao’s fists.
Boxing items are hot stuff on eBay and other online stores. Pacquiao merchandise such as signed pictures and gloves as well as bootleg shirts, are selling briskly.
