I almost dropped my iPhone when I read an article that Juan Manuel Marquez was on ?PED? or Performance Enhancing Drugs?. I back read again to check if it was the usual Mayweather family rantings that I usually read. Unfortunately, it was not an article about the not-so-brainy comments from the Mayweather clans claiming Pacquiao was on PED or ?anting-anting? (mystical powers) as an excuse to downplay the merits of the Pacman in boxing.
I don’t support any claims from anybody without the proper documents to prove the accusations. I think we all should not support this garbage. These are just insinuations. Just because JMM hired an alleged former ?PED? to train him does not justify ?Dinamita? was fed illegal supplements. Yes, it was surprising to see Marquez fully sculpted muscled body during weigh-in. A far cry from his previous fighting form during his lightweight days. Did somebody from Omar’s camp cried wolf against Donaire whose training regimen was supervised by erstwhile ?PED? alleged guru Victor Conde?
I know the Pacman felt JMM’s power. And it was no ordinary power. It was more or less 5 months of painful training regimen compared to Pacman’s 8 weeks? Or was it 6 weeks? Can we deduct the late night sorties of Manny? You can’t take away anything from Marquez. He was focused. He trained hard. He was disciplined. He was hungry. He wants to prove something. Give the guy the credit. JMM did what Marine cadets do. Train hard. He did what Bar topnotchers do. Study hard. The only thing that I can say is that JMM fell short. His aggression fell short. He did not engage. And it cost him the win. But I give all credit to Marquez. It was a job well done.
How would future Hall of Famer Nacho Beristain feel? Imagine Nacho falling off his chair and eventually gather himself and pick up the chair and smash it to the wall after reading this. Don’t forget to imagine the curses you always hear from Nacho. Would Nacho stain his career as a trainer to allow Juan Manuel Marquez to use illegal drugs just to beat the Pacman? Just to sleep better? Come on. Again, give the guy the credit he deserves. Unless otherwise proven, I will stick to my claim that Juan Manuel Marquez was never that desperate to beat the Pacman to resort into ?PED?s.
