It?s increasingly clear that a dream fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is far from a reality at this point given the recent news of Mayweather?s impending 90-day jail sentence in relation to his involvement in a September 2010 domestic violence case.
Floyd is expected to hit jail on January 6th and likely could be out until early April, leaving his proposed May 5th return, a date some had hoped would finally see him in the ring with Pacquiao, up in the air. Pacquiao?s promoter Bob Arum is surely looking at all other options for his fighter at this point and has no further to look than the man who just gave Manny a life-and-death struggle.
On November 12th, Juan Manuel Marquez faced off with Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, the third encounter between the two men. It was a close, some say controversial battle, as Marquez seized command early and appeared to do enough to win based on him dictating the pace of the fight and landing several flush blows.
