Hello to all Mayweather apologists, he used this time as an excuse and issued statements to infuriate promoter Bob Arum and toy with Manny Pacquiao. He doesn?t want a fight… how do you hold an arena if you are going to jail? The reason Floyd is famous in today’s society isnt the same reason Muhammad Ali- a truly great champion of all time- was famous. Floyd’s fame is more akin to why Kim Kardashian is famous. He has never fought a 100% prime all-time great and beaten him in his career, unless you want to count a shot Oscar De La Hoya or an unfocused Zab Judah as a close runner up. Once the craze of modern media sunsets on his prime, he will be voted as a top 50 pound-for-pound fighter, nothing higher. Roy Jones ranks much higher- Roy beat a prime James Toney (who beat a very prime Michael Nunn), Roy beat Bernard Hopkins when they were in their prime (and Hopkins went on to beat everyone in the middleweight division), Roy won a light heavyweight belt from Mike McCallum (OK, McCallum was old), Roy KO’d Virgil Hill w the best body shot in modern times, and Roy beat perennial very good contenders like Reggie Johnson, Merqui Sosa, etc., whom were all better than any of Floyd’s best wins. Didn?t floyd duck Kosta Tszyu, Vince Phillips, Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito, Kermit Cintron and Paul Williams by retiring every month? And now since hes going to jail, he will need a tune up fight…..boo hoo, the sports media gets duped for its long awaited mega fight the same way the social media was by the Kim Kardashian wedding. Lastly, Floyd wants to retire undefeated, as long as you know this, you know he will never fight a prime all time opponent. Victor Ortiz, stand up.
