Pacquiao, Roach due today from Los Angeles

BOXING hero Manny Pacquiao and trainer Freddie Roach will plane in from Los Angeles this morning and immediately buckle down to work for the final phase of his training for the July 2 clash with Oscar Larios at the Araneta Coliseum.

Pacquiao, who is arriving with members of his management group, is expected to report to the gym in the afternoon to resume his workout and sparring sessions.

In his last training session in Los Angeles, where he sparred 12 rounds, the Filipino ring icon weighed close to the 130-lb regulatory limit and appeared relaxed and in a good mood.

“All we need to do is fine-tune the game plans crafted to counter the perceived strength, talent and skills of Oscar Larios,” said Roach, in an interview with the Philboxing.com. recently.

“The format of Manny’s training is geared for him to go over 12 rounds with Larios. If we get a knockout before that, that is a blessing we will gladly accept.”

“Judging from the relaxed manner he handled everything, including the media interviews, Manny Pacquiao, by all indications, is primed and ready to rumble,” said the Los Angeles-based Ed De la Vega, a member of the fighter’s entourage.

Pacquiao, according to his business associate Rex “Wakee” Salud, will do his final workout at the Rizal Coliseum, which is deemed a bigger area to hold his training sessions.

Also among those arriving with Pacquiao are his American managers Shelly Finkel, Nick Khan and Keith Davidson, Filipino trainer Buboy Fernandez, and boxers Gerry Pe?alosa and Ernel Fontanilla.
