Jericho Rosales’ declaration he’s turning his back on acting for TV and movies to concentrate on singing is the most wrong move ever made by an actor in years. The actor issued the statement in the wake of his departure from Star Magic, the talent agency that nurtured him to stardom. Not only does the statement reek of hypocrisy, it also brings up Jericho’s ability or non-ability to sing. So far, he hasn’t impressed us with his singing more than his acting. So, what singing career is he talking about?

INTERNATIONAL BOXING champion Manny Pacquiao has chosen not to pick up the 5 million peso check he was supposed to get for the rights to his life story as told in the biopic “Pacquiao The Movie.”
The boxer-actor has decided to invest the amount in the tell-all movie, which opens tomorrow. Producer Rose Flaminiano of FLT Productions said during a conversation yesterday Pacquiao has developed business savvy that he seems to know where to put his millions.
Pacquiao has been building mansions in General Santos and Davao cities. He reportedly gets 15 million pesos per endorsement. For “Pacquiao The Movie,” one of his clients invested 9.8 million pesos worth of casual advertising, according to Mrs. Flaminiano.
Flaminiano, fondly called ‘Mommy’ Rose in the movie world, recalled she first met Manny in 1997. Back then, he had been enticing her to buy the rights to his life story.
It wasn’t until a few years later, when the boxer lost out to Erik Morales, that she finally made good her promise to buy his story.
‘Win or lose, I told Manny I was going to buy his story,’ she said.
A risk-taker in life and in business, Ms. Flaminiano had earlier gambled on signing up Robin Padilla to a long-term, 9-picture contract months before he was freed from prison. She believes she has strong extra-sensory perception to know where to put her money.
Before “Pacquiao The Movie” forcibly brought her back to the movies, Ms. Flami-niano had been building subdivisions in Tarlac City and Paoay, Ilocos Norte. The slump currently being experienced by Tagalog movies has led her to another interest, real estate.
Business, she says, has been so good that she’s opening two more villages in Sta. Maria, Bulacan and Dau, Pampanga very soon. Her subdivisions, which she’s developing in tandem with Pag-ibig Fund, targets OFW’s.
How it all started is an amazing story told with Mommy Rose’s characteristic flair for the dramatic. Some years ago, the producer chanced upon a 4-hectare lot in Tarlac City re-possessed by her bank She was able to buy it for a mere 500,000 pesos.
Years passed. One day, she got a call from a government representative who wanted to buy the lot for 18 million pesos. It was then that she thought of converting the property into a sub-division on which now stands beautiful homes and gardens.
