Two Mexican world champions Juan Manuel Marquez and Erik Morales are standing in line to avenge the eleventh round annihilation of their legendary countryman Marco Antonio Barrera who suffered a devastating eleventh round TKO at the hands of the flamboyant Filipino southpaw, “Merciless” Manny Pacquiao last November 15 in San Antonio, Texas.
Pacquiao?s business manager Rod Nazario said he had received overseas telephone calls from HBO executive Kery Davis and promoter Murad Muhammad informing him that the fight against World Boxing Association/International Boxing Federation champion Marquez was set for May 8 with Las Vegas as the likely site. Nazario also revealed that both Murad and Davis had heard reports about Pacquiao?s long hours at the pool table and told him to get a hold of the champion and make sure he gets in shape for the Marquez fight because next in line is a megabuck title shot at newly crowned WBC super featherweight champion Morales in a fight set for July 31 or early August.
