US Judge Richard Niedorf handed down the default judgment in favor of Los Angeles boxing adviser Duane Moody on Monday after Nelson Mandela’s daughter, Zindzi, failed to file responding papers, according to former French broadcast journalist Kamini Padayachee who writes for THE MERCURY, a South African daily.
This developed when Nierdorf made public of the copy of the judgment that Zindzi must pay $ 7.5 million plus $ 433.50 in cost as damages for breaching a contract which was to see champions Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao fight in South Africa as part of her father?s 93rd birthday celebration, Padayachee reported.
The Padayachee continued : “Moody claims in court papers that Zindzi approached him in February to help secure one of the most anticipated events in recent boxing history ? a bout between unbeaten World Boxing Council welterweight champion Mayweather and World Boxing Organisation welterweight champion Pacquiao, which had apparently been scheduled to take place at Orlando Stadium in Soweto last month.”
