Because Mayweather will now have plenty of time to think about Pacquiao, and his undefeated record that may never be tested, we ask, have we seen the last of Floyd? Probably not, but that famous May 5 date, as can be determined was all a way to keep Maywather in the news about boxing and not what about to come down in the courtroom.
Bob Arum, promoter of Pacquiao, could not be reached for comment. The Mayweather adversary, with Top Rank has said enough the past two years, the past few months. Mayweather was not on the agenda for Pacquiao. After the drug testing issue, the purse battle, Arum and boxing fans knew the mega-fight was not going to happen.

There was reason for optimism. Mayweather returned in September with an awkward win and WBC title over Victor Ortiz. But the theatre was Mayweather and Larry Merchant, and not the answer we awaited for the Mayweather call to Manny Pacquiao.
So as Mayweather has plenty of time to think, Pacquiao will go on. He will be known as the best pound-for-pound fighter. Arum will go to work as he is reportedly doing, in putting together another Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez fight.
All of that propaganda and Mayweather setting May 5, 2012, calling out ?The Little Fella? can now be put to rest. And the rumors of a Mayweather-Miguel Cotto fight can be put to rest as well. Mayweather will be incarcerated until the end of March. That would interfere with a two-month training plan, while Cotto has to look into other options.
