Here we are people…it’s the final countdown, as that fantastic rock group “Europe” might say. A lot of people nowadays put down the group…dismissing them as a mere hair band, but they had substance man! I didn’t know that there were countdowns prior to the final countdown. I always assumed that there was only one countdown, but I guess that I was wrong. “Five, four, three, two, one…okay that’s the tenth countdown…ninety more to go before we get to the final one.” Why do people feel the need to put down the rock bands of the past? Get this: there are actually jerks out there that claim that the group: “Winger” wasn’t hardcore. What great band is next on their list to insult: The Rolling Stones? The Beatles? Grim Reaper? Oh Grim Reaper was the bomb…have you ever heard their tune: Rock You To Hell?
This is the fourth and final mailbag entry this week and I’m sure that as the weeks go by, I will be pounding one out every day. It’s strange how you can use the word “pounding” to describe many different activities. The English language never fails to surprise me. Well, whenever I read your comments and questions, I pound away, and it does take time, but it’s a labor of love. The number of emails is on the rise and I am going to sit here and provide accurate answers, or BS and hope that you buy it.
There is only one week left people before I yank it. I will yank the contest for the: Geno Bambino Question of the Month, because there will be a winner. The winner is going to receive a signed DVD: Evil Awakening. That was my very first production and the stars of the film have signed it and so too has the writer/director/producer. That would be me, and it may be worth something one day. I am at least a local celebrity in my city. I get recognized once in a while. I’m a hero of sorts, as I stand up to the evil police force that tries to give me speeding tickets. I fight them for the people and because I am in the right! The speed limit should be 80 MPH. So, RSR readers: give me a shout and you might just win a wonderful, glorious, fantastic, one of a kind, autographed “Evil Awakening” DVD, courtesy of X Posse Productions.
One more thing that I want to talk about before I kick my sack off. Have you people seen the T.V. show: Mind Freak? This dude: Chris Angel, is a magician, but he’s got the best game in town. He actually levitates and floats from building top to building top. Usually, I can figure out how they do these things, but this guy has me at a loss. He is doing some incredible things. He climbed down a skyscraper with no harness of any kind, it seemed. He just walked right down as if he were walking down the street. I came up with a show, since imitation is the highest form of flattery called: “Mind Geek.” My cousin Neil is going to do magic tricks just like Chris Angel. Unfortunately the first season of “Mind Geek” will have to wait. Neil didn’t do so well walking down the side of a building. I guess that there’s a trick to it after all.

First of all, I’d like to congratulate you for hosting this magnificent internet mailbag site. Got the link from the Pacman’s site one time, and since then, I got hooked up into this and make it sort of a routine every time that I can get myself online. You are very professional in giving away your comments on whatever we (your fans) ask. You sometimes may make funny remarks or sarcasm to your answers, but that’s okay because sometimes I just look forward to seeing one like that in our site.
I just hope you won’t pick my mail to show the whole world that though *chuckles**. Just happened to appreciate good sense of humor but not too much sarcasm of course. “Humping Geno” huh, you got me with that one man. How about “Chic Boy Geno?”

I used to have that nickname too. My ex-girlfriend gave it to me, but never told me why. I am very grateful for the fans that I do have and I will maintain this mailbag as long as the questions and comments keep coming in. Hmm…what about “Chico Boy Geno?” I love it! I am going to have to make a book entitled: “The 1000 Best Nicknames of Geno McGahee.” It won’t be a best seller and will end up in the bargain bin, but at least it would be in good company with that horrible Regis Philbin book: Who Want’s to Be Me? What sort of egotistical garbage is that? I know that he hosted: “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” which came and went pretty quickly as far as prime time goes, but for him to write a book calling himself a God, basically…it is ridiculous. Did you see when they put Howie Mandel, host of “Deal or No Deal” and Regis together in some sort of skit? Two guys that are not funny at all cracking jokes…all you need now is Ellen Degeneres dancing as she is now doing all of the time to make me give up television permanently.
So, I do not want to be Regis and I cannot handle Howie or Ellen. I guess that you could add Maury Povich in there too. That guy is a real piece of work. Have you ever seen him harass these thirteen year old kids and completely exploit them for ratings? I am sorry to go off course here, but that is the way that I am. I am a rambling man and this is how I handle my mailbag.
1.How can you go against Edwin Valero, 19-0, 19 KO’s, 18 in the first round? I’m really excited about this kid and I imagine that most people are. He is in the lightweight division where we have another exciting fighter that you may have heard of: Diego Corrales. That division is actually jam-packed with talent. I am going to say that Valero wins this fight, which will be his longest to date, in the 3rd round.
2.At this point in time, I would favor Jorge Barrios over Erik Morales by late stoppage. I just think that EM’s time has come and gone and it’s time for him to ride off into the sunset. He truly had a great career.
3.I would lean slightly toward JMM because I think that he is the fresher of the two. He is skilled and would be really motivated to win this one…so a UD for JMM over MAB.
4.The same would apply here as JMM outworks and out-points EM over the distance, winning a decision.
5.In a Barrios-JMM bout, I would slightly favor JMM by decision. He is very skilled and would probably cruise to a comfortable win over a dangerous opponent.
The best. Who is the best? Who is simply the best, as Tina Turner would put it? I would say that JMM is the best, but I am extremely excited about Valero, and I am tempted to put him on top of the list. You know what? Screw it! Valero is number 1 and that is my final answer!

Cool name man! Have you ever heard the tune by Mercyful Fate: “Return of the Vampire?” I freaking love that song. Okay, I have never seen a trainer stuck in between two fighters on the professional level. It just doesn’t really happen. When it happens with a trainer that has left one fighter and is now facing that boxer from across the ring, it is pretty odd, I’m sure as Emanuel Steward was once working with Oliver McCall as he faced Lennox Lewis in the first bout and when they met again, he was with Lewis. To be honest, I cannot think of a fight when a trainer matched two of his fighters against each other…I just can’t!

You fall, get counted out and he wins the Trailer Park World title. My question: Do you try to face him again in 30, 60 or 90 days? If so, what do you do different this time around? Do you bite his ears? Steal his cheap Old English Beer, which makes him sad?
Or do you steal his ball cap he picked up from saving 45 tops of Castro Oil and turning them at the local Autozone?
Yes, I am being funny here and you are always funny in your mailbag, which I really enjoy and as you can tell, and I read it all the time.

On the off chance that I actually lose a bout and I don’t care if I’m facing Wladimir Klitschko, I don’t lose. (Note: Wlad, this is NOT a challenge by any means.) First, I do NOT wear tighty whities. I find them incredibly uncomfortable and I don’t like boxer briefs either…they are glorified tighty whities. But, I will play your little game here. I lose (yeah right) and I have to come back to face Trailer Park Jones. Well, I have an ace up my sleeve. My friend: “Trailer Park Adams” will help me train for this battle. He will make me do pushups while I look at Nascar posters. He will make me run laps while doused with Brute cologne. I will be doing squat thrusts while he sits there on his beaten up couch, that is duct-taped to hell and prepare the full 90 days for this battle, where I will regain my backyard boxing championship. Let me tell you a (false) story. I at one time sparred with Wladimir Klitschko (this is a complete lie, but play along), and I clearly won. (Okay, this was an actual dream, but I did win in the dream and dammit, that has to count for something!) So, you see, I could be the champion of the world, but I elect not to vie for it.
So, I win, and I am happy that you enjoy the bag. I am one of the crazies and when I see that I’m getting emails from others like me, it brings me joy. When I was a child, my mother told me that if I keep on writing weird things that nobody would read them, but she was WRONG! Ask Geno does rule and thank you for saying it. I can’t take full credit because the RSR readers are supplying the material. I’m just responding. “Best Humper and Goatee Guy there is?” That’s what my wife said once…those were the good times…

Hope things are well. Just a few wonderings: I watched the Valuev -v- Beck fight. I don’t think the big man is getting the credit he deserves. Yes he looks like a circus attraction, but against Beck we saw this giant throw fast and effective close combinations. Not using that 8ft reach but nice little uppercuts and he handled Beck crowding him very effectively, I hope he goes from strength to strength, for the first time he’s getting proper training and its showing!
The fight that really excites me at the minute is supposed De La Hoya -v- PBF fight. I know this is all probably a romantic notion, but I can see De La Hoya really testing PBF. He battered Mayorga (which I was delighted about, Mayorga was a right @#”$ before the fight) and all the greats have that one last great night. So do you think De La Hoya could push PBF or was Mayorga the Golden Boys last great hurrah?
And although Morales is my all time boxing idol, well done to the Pacman fans – every week they dominate the mailbag! Keep it going lads!

My friend…how are you doing? I am beginning to get on the Valuev bandwagon. I have one leg on the wagon right now and about to throw another on because of the risk of injury. If you have one leg on and you hit a bump, the chance of having more children is really reduced. It’s like horseback riding. What man in their right mind rides a horse? Who wants to turn their grapes into wine? I don’t, but some rejects do and they jump on top of one of these nutcrackers and ride off into the sunset. Poor John Wayne. I heard that the Duke suffered from all those horseback scenes in his westerns from a condition that the doctors call: applesauce grapes. Think about it…
Nikolay Valuev is undefeated and has knocked out some reasonable opposition. Nobody else has destroyed Beck so easily and with his size and strength and ability to plow over eighty-year-old security guards with a single punch, I think that he will certainly be a factor in the division. I can’t wait until he comes to the states. I compare him to King Kong, and we all love our monsters. Don King is promoting him, apparently, and we should all expect much theatrics concerning this WBA World Champ.
PBF beats De La Hoya without question, in my opinion. De La Hoya came back and beat Mayorga, which is all fine and good, but he wants to face a man that is so sharp after facing a wild slugger like Mayorga? It’s not going to be enough preparation. I see “The Golden Boy” taking a beating…getting beaten to the punch consistently over the distance. I want everyone that is saying: “De La Hoya” to begin to chant: “Margarito.” That is the fight right there my friend.
The Pacfans rule and are a big part of the mailbag for sure. I can honestly say that I have not had one negative email from a Pacfan.

I appreciate the props my friend. I think that Manny Pacquiao is paving the way for the Pinoy boxers that are on their way up. Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista is very promising for sure and is about to break out. Rodel Mayol is good, but he has a big obstacle ahead of him. He is as tiny as you can get at 105 or so pounds and the U.S., where boxing is pretty popular likes things that are enormous. They will probably call Mayol: “Valuev’s toothpick.” Randy Suico has lost a couple of times, but is still in the hunt. Now, for the superstar: Manny “The Pacman/Terminator” Pacquiao. This guy has really earned the attention of the masses by destroying very good fighters. He has heart, endurance, and explosive power. It is no secret that Pac is one of my favorite active boxers and for good reason. He is a warrior with dynamite in both fists. The sky is the limit for Pacman for sure.

I was wondering: How would O’Neil Bell do as a Heavyweight? What’s so good about Zsolt Erdei? He is a ranked LH yet he hasn’t done anything. Fabrice Tiozzo is a starved sucky cruiser who beat an old Michelczewski, Woods sucks, Glen Johnson should forget the paper IBF organization and their belt, he doesn’t need it.
What I’m trying to get to is that some of these Euro Light Heavys are overrated paper champs…all except Tomaz Adamek. That guy is RAW! I’m saying that as a Chicago guy, with our gigantic Polish population, though I’m not Polish myself. I just think Erdei is crap and so is Tiozzo and Woods. What you think? What do you think of these guys? Now, what do you think of these match ups:

Sorry about editing your name a bit, but the sickos out there can figure out what it was. The future hall of fame journalist…damn straight! I wish that the BWAA would actually take notice of internet writers when they are giving out their awards. The net is taking over because magazines are out of date and it’s much easier to jump on line…and cheaper. I, of course, would love for these people to check out my work and consider it instead of neglecting the net all together, which they certainly do. I am a member of the BWAA and I want to be considered! Do any of these jerks that win do a mailbag? Do any of these jerks that win write as much as I do? I think not! All I’m asking for is to be considered, and one day, I will be. A bout with Dan Rafael…I’m in better shape then he is. I can’t say that often, but when I can, I will jump on it in a heartbeat. Do you remember the In Living Color skit when they had this program to make yourself look better by standing next to unattractive people? It’s the same principal for chubbers. Stand next to a chubbier person and you win. It’s that simple. In all honesty though, Dan Rafael is a good writer and you have to respect that, and I do.

Our newest movie: “Rise of the Scarecrows” is the bomb and any horror fan will truly love it. We want to get out there and the hardest part is the waiting process with these distributors. How long does it take to watch a movie?!!! Okay, I’m ranting…sorry. O’Neil Bell as a heavyweight would not be a good idea. He’s got a heavyweight punch, but too many boxers have made their way up to the heavyweight division only to fail miserably like Al Cole and recently, Vasiliy Jirov. Bell is a good cruiserweight and should stay where he is. You have to excuse the Boxrec rankings that place Erdei #1. He’s a good fighter, but I think that they are having technical difficulties. Okay, time to get to the match ups before I write a book here…
Antonio Tarver vs. O’Neil Bell: I would go with Bell by mid-round stoppage. He’s bigger and hits harder and as shown against Mormeck, he can beat the toughest guys down. Tarver was dropped by Eric Harding and Bell hits a lot harder and even though he may lack in technique, he more than makes up for in power and heart.
Sam Peter vs. Mount Whitaker: I was one of the Mount Whitaker supporters before he faded away. He didn’t make his run at the title quick enough and is now a journeyman, more or less. He would get KO’d by Samuel Peter for sure. No doubt about it. There is no question. Get ready people to see Whitaker fall in two rounds.
James Toney vs. Chris Byrd: At one time, this was the fight, but now, it’s not really in demand. This is a boring bout that will depend on James Toney. If he’s in shape, he wins. If he’s in shape (round), he loses. Either way, it’s a decision, but I would go with Toney by UD.
Tomasz Adamek vs. Joe Calzaghe: I have a lot of respect for Adamek and his accomplishments, but I cannot go against Calzaghe on this one. I may be his only supporter as evident by my mailbag, but I will stick by him. Calzaghe by UD.
Miguel Cotto vs. Antonio Margarito: No question at all in my mind on this one. Antonio Margarito stops Miguel Cotto in the early rounds with a barrage of punches. He is too tough and strong for Cotto. The Cotto chin just won’t hold up.
Shane Mosley vs. Kassim Ouma: Without question, Ouma takes this one big time and stops Mosley in 8 rounds. You have the passing of the torch, really. Ouma is on the rise, and Shane has been dead in the water for years.
Manny Pacquiao vs. Acelino Freitas: Pacman chomps him up. He is a sharper puncher and will be able to find the unorthodox Popo when others couldn’t. Good fight, but Pacman wins late stoppage.
Jeff Lacy vs. Markus Beyer: This is a good bout, but don’t let the Calzaghe loss fool you. Lacy is still the man, more or less. He will beat Beyer and win a title, but he just has to stay away from Joe Calzaghe. Stay away from him completely…he’s got his number big time.
Winky Wright vs. Joe Calzaghe: Calzaghe takes it with his activity…which just so happens to be the key to beating Winky Wright. Tough bout, but a decision goes to the Brit.
I must have a few years on you. I’m 31 years young. I grew up on Swamp Thing, Flash Gordon, and the Superman movies. The Nintendo 8-bit system was big when I was around 13 and I played with it all night at that time. I also played the Nintendo 8-bit system as well. I was going to say that Earnie is a goofy name, but Mr. Shavers is a friend of RSR and that is one man that I do not want to offend…

Hey thanks for the compliments brother! I think that the reason why there isn’t many Filipino vs. Filipino big time fights is due to the lack of worldwide fame. Bobby and Manny trading punches would be interesting for as long as it lasted, but the Pacman hits too hard and they are brothers anyhow and you never really get a legitimate result when 2 brothers go at it. One is always holding back.

Last time we talked about Juarez vs. Pac and you gave a good insight of the fight.. Let us now move on to Guzman. He has been calling out Pacman for a long time now.. He moved from 122 to 130 for a chance to face the big dogs… I haven’t seen his fight against Jauregui but from what I heard, he lost his devastating power he had at 122. He was unable to stop the old Jauregui who apparently injured a hand.. What is this guy’s chance against Pacman…
You said you like the knowledge of Steward… Yeah he is pretty knowledgeable. Do you believe him when he said that the Cleto Reyes gloves had no bearing to the win of Pacman in the rematch. Personally, I notice Morales’ face got swollen faster than the first time when Pac was wearing them.

Dude! What is going on? Joan Guzman has a good punch, but you are correct. It isn’t what it was at the lower weight classes. A bout with he and the Pacman would be interesting, but you would still have to favor Manny. You are going to have to be really special to defeat the Pacman…and I’m not sure that Guzman is that type of fighter.
I disagree with Steward. I think that the gloves meant something in the first fight. I saw no reason to deny Manny his gloves and the fact that he was denied tells me that the Reyes gloves would have made him at least, a more comfortable fighter in there. I don’t know if he would have won, but right there is your controversy. Why deny him the gloves? That is pretty fishy dude.

Are you kidding me? Pac should go back to 126 and challenge Rafa or have a rematch with JMM. I think the road to greatness for Manny is to lord it over at 126 for a long time. Going 135 is a suicide.

Does it look like I’m kidding?!!! Manny is a great fighter and if he does move up to face Corrales, it’s not a good idea, but Juan Diaz and Acelino Freitas seem beatable. JMM doesn’t want the rematch man! You can’t go to his house, kick in the door, grab the bag of potato chips out of his hand, kick him in the grapes, drag him to the ring, and ring the bell. That’s not how life works. Manny has to take what’s available…like I do. I take it any way that I can get it.

I just want to ask, in your opinion as a fan and/or and boxing analyst, is Manny Pacquiao headed to Canastota someday?
And why do those self proclaimed boxing experts keep on commenting whenever Pacman destroys warriors like Morales and Barrera, they immediately conclude that these boxers are just shadows of their former selves or something to that effect? It seems to me that they don’t give Pacman the credit due to him.

Without question, the Pacman is on his way to the hall of fame. I would bet my bloomers on it…what are bloomers? Do guys have bloomers or are they a female thing? I bet my wife’s bloomers! I really wouldn’t take it as a shot at the Pacman. Morales and Barrera are not in their primes, but guess what? Not in their primes beats 99% of the other boxers out there and for Manny to cut through them like a hot knife through butter is amazing…I am still shocked when I watch MAB take that beating.

How are you my friend… Okay, let’s see what we’ve got here…hmm. I would definitely say that 50 or so percent of my mailbag are Pacman questions and I appreciate every single one of them. More power to all the Pacsters out there and to all the fans of RSR. A big shout out to my X Posse while I’m at it! Steve, put down that corndog. Okay, I’m sorry about the personal stuff…Steve likes corndogs. One time, I shoved a corndog in my pants as a joke. Believe it or not, my wife did not find it funny. Corndogs are disgusting and I will not have them in my house unless they are in my pants. Those are my rules…love them or hate them.

Boom Boom Bautista, although I’m not entirely sold on him, wins both by decision.
Z Gorres would probably lose against the two mentioned, in my opinion…but he is still a live underdog in both of those matches. Just the power of Montiel, and Gonzales and the style of Gorres may be disaster for the Z.
I can’t go against Jorge Arce. He is fantastic! I do like the Hawaiian Punch slightly against the other two…
