Watching Manny Pacquiao defend his WBC International super-featherweight belt against the former WBC super-bantamweight champion Oscar Larios of Mexico may cost a “fortune” for most Filipinos.
On July 2, Pacquiao fanatics who belong to the elite class will have the luxury of watching the “Mano-A-Mano Pilipinas Contra Mexico” card at the patron box at the Araneta Coliseum. Tickets for these seats cost P30,000 each.
Aside from the P30,000 seats, the lower-box seats cost P20,000 each, the upper-box A seats cost P7,500 each, and P2,500 each for the upper-box B seats.
Tickets will be out starting today at Ticketnet outlets at the SM Malls in Cubao, Marilao, Quiapo, Batangas, Makati, Valenzuela, Harrison, Molino, North Edsa, Sucat, Sta. Mesa, Sta. Rosa, Ortigas, Clark, Las Pi?as, Mall of Asia, Bacoor, Fairview, Manila, Pampanga, San Lazaro, Podium, Dasmari?as, Cebu, Bicutan, Lucena and Baguio.
The cheapest ticket is P500 general admission. But Pacquiao will give away free admission tickets through a text promo in TV programs of ABS-CBN and its provincial radio stations until June 25.
For TV audience, they need to wait for the Mano-A-Mano logo to appear on screen before sending through text the name of the program and date it was seen. For the radio listeners, a bell stinger will be aired before they can answer the question through text message.
Those who could not afford the P500 general-admission tickets, major cinemas all over the country offer a live telecast of the fight, which is set at 8 a.m., for P300.
Meanwhile, aside from the Pacquiao-Larios pay-per-view telecast, the fights of Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista (20-0, 15KOs) against Alejandro Felix Montiel (51-7, 30KOs) and Gerry Pe?alosa (49-5-2, 33KOs) against Tomas Rojas (22-8, 14KOs) will be aired all over the world.
Pe?alosa’s fight against Rojas will open the international television coverage, which is set to start at 9 a.m., while the Bautista’s fight against Montiel will precede the Pacquiao-Larios encounter, which is scheduled at 11 a.m.
Other prominent Filipino punchers who are pitted against Mexican fighters are former OPBF super-featherweight champion Randy Suico (24-2, 21Kos), who is now campaigning in the lightweight division, against Silverio Ortiz (17-9, 7KOs), and RP super-featherweight champion Jimrex Jaca (24-2-1, 12KOs) against Adrian “Gallero” Valdez (17-5-3, 9KOs).
