After successfully defending his World Boxing Organization (WBO) flyweight belt against Mexican challenger Giovani Segura, Brian Viloria said he is opting to stay in the 112-pound weight class for a few bouts before climbing to another weight category.
?So far, so good, there?s no any plan to move up [in weight class]. There are many big names to consider as my next opponent next year. My manager will take care of that,? he said.
In the flyweight category, Viloria could face Ivan Calderon, Tyson Marquez and Pongsaklek Wonjongkam. But Viloria?s American manager Gary Gittelsohn said there is a possibility for the Filipino to test the 115-pound division if there?s an opportunity.
?I?m ready to face any challenge that will come next year, but right now I have to savor my sweet victory. I need to take a rest because I prepared hard for this [fight]. Of course, I?d like to unify the flyweight title someday and fight the best boxer,? said Viloria, who improved to 30-3-0 win-loss slate with 17 knockouts).
