WAKEE Salud, who is a comanager of Bobby Pacquiao, now has some serious issues to attend to.
In an overseas telephone conversation with Viva Sports/Standard Today, the close friend and confidant of Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao, who is facing a lawsuit filed by Manny Pacquiao’s management team, headed by Shelly Finkel, said he and lawyer Franklin Gacal, who is also included in the suit, would meet with Finkel and his team in Los Angeles at 2 p.m. today.
The lawsuit stems from the agreement Pacquiao signed with ABS-CBN for the showdown with Oscar Larios on July 2 in which Finkel et al. claim he had no right to sign without written permission from his management team.
Salud said they are hoping for a settlement and expressed quiet confidence that the differences would be resolved. Salud said he did not know what the Finkel group would ask for in exchange for dropping the suit, but indications are it would be a contract extension or 25 percent of the $4 million paid by ABS-CBN to Pacquiao for the July 2 Mano-A-Mano fight card.
“That’s why I want to talk to them,”said Salud.
He said Pacquiao was training very hard, adding that the victory of younger brother Bobby Pacquiao made him very happy.
Bobby scored what many believe was a shocking fourth-round knockout over former world featherweight champion Kevin Kelley, who may be forced to retire.
