Rejuvenated Miguel Cotto totally dominates Margarito for TKO; Mayweather next?

It was like taking candy from a baby. Dancing, prancing and jabbing, a completely rejuvenated Miguel Cotto romped to a 10th round TKO victory over a depleted Antonio Margarito Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. It was a festive night for Cotto and the thousands of fellow Puerto Ricans in the sellout crowd of about 20,000 as everything went their guy’s way right from the start. Cotto was ahead 89-82 on all three judges scorecards with each judge only awarding him one round in the bout. Margarito was not permitted, despite his corner’s begging for one more round, to come out for the 10th round. “The eye was completely shut and we couldn’t go on. Before that we were vacillating a little bit. The eye was completely shut. He couldn’t see (out) and I couldn’t see in it. We have a rule in New York on that,” New York commission physician Dr. Barry Jordan said. The Revenge Rematch was onesided but always entertaining especially for the Isla Encanta partisans. Ringside rumor has it that Cotto may move on to a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May if undefeated “Money” spurns the also hotly rumored showdown against Manny Pacquiao. At the end of this fight, no one seemed to care about the allegations that Margarito may have had illegally loaded handwraps when he thrashed Cotto in their first bout. On this night, it was all Cotto, almost all the time.
