A surprise attendee at the Cotto-Margarito weigh-in late Friday afternoon was the unrecognized Michael Koncz, the advisor of Manny Pacquiao. Was Mr. Koncz on his way back from the rumored meeting with Mayweather and his Las Vegas gym? Read on?
BoxingInsider: I understand you went to visit Floyd Mayweather last week or this week at his gym and I wanted to hear what happened out there. How did that meeting go?
Michael Koncz: ?I don?t have any comment on what Manny?s next opponent?s gonna be or whether it?s going to be Floyd or not. When the time is right there will be statements on Manny?s next opponent but right now I don?t have any official statement.?
BoxingInsider: What brings you here to Madison Square Garden tonight?
Michael Koncz: ?Well, we?re here to watch the Cotto-Margarito fight. They?re two great fighters, Manny fought them both. I?m here to cheer for one or the other, I haven?t decided which one yet.?
BoxingInsider: Who do you think will win?
Michael Koncz: ?I think Cotto?s gonna win. I think Cotto learned something from when Manny fought Margarito, using the angles, don?t go straight backwards, if he goes backwards and gets caught against the ropes, Margarito will destroy him like he did last time. Cotto and Margarito are both great talents in their own right, I think they?re going to put on a great show. I think Cotto has a lot to prove and he has a lot of anger in him. If he can control that anger and be smart he can win.?
