In last year?s Philippine Blog Awards (PBA), despite being just five months old and facing tough competition, Filipino Boxing Journal nabbed the highest honors in the event?s sports category. The win was a definitive moment for FBJ. In some ways, winning such award was a stamp of validation for this writer, who had long to become a boxing scribe and found the blogosphere as his avenue.
But more than just personal agendas and deliver fight news that matters to Filipinos worldwide, FBJ was also created to feature Filipino fighters from obscure places in the country and put their names on the boxing world?s radar, though the task seems to be a very ambitious one. FBJ is still a long way from becoming a trusted source of boxing news and updates among the Filipino fight fans, but this writer is also confident that the blog will get there, by hook or by crook.
In this year?s Philippine Blog Awards, Filipino Boxing Journal is nominated for the ?Best Sports Blog? award for the second time in a row. The nomination itself is already a huge achievement. It only goes to show that FBJ is very committed to the goals that became the basis of its foundation ? to disseminate news, opinions, and information that are useful to the Filipino boxing fan and in the process, make known to the boxing world the throngs of Filipino prizefighters who want to make a name for themselves and rake in honors for the country.
