Hey what’s up.. I was just wondering, do you feel Pavlik Vs Martinez was a bad match-up for the then champ? Also, do you feel Arum should have ducked this fight for Pavlik, & tried to set up a future clash Vs JCC JR… If so, it’s a win-win situation for TR… Also, at this stage in their careers, who wins between JCC JR & Pavlik? Hey what’s up.. Not sure if you’ve heard of this incident or not.. But PBF got into it w/ DJ Rude Jude from Shade 45 (a radio station on Sirius) because 50 Cent told him that the DJ was talking smack about him (50 Cent is such an instigator) Anyways all DJ Rude Jude said was that PBF’s style was boring, that he’s ducking Pacquiao, and that there’s more excitment in 24/7 than there is in his fights.. PBF then went on to call him a “f*ggot” & also said that DJ Rude Jude needs to “get off his d*ck” etc etc.. It seems as if whenever Pacquiao is mentioned to Mayweather JR.. He gets so anal about it, & starts an argument with whoever he’s speaking with.. Why is this?
Leon’s Response: I actually thought Pavlik was on his way to winning the fight until he reacted to the cut in Juan Diaz like fashion. Top Rank and their matchmakers are masters at what they do, but sometimes even masters make mistakes. Even though he’s made quite a bit of money, I believe Pavlik had the potential to make a lot more and become a long reigning middleweight champ. That Hopkins loss KILLED him. If they fought next Chavez Jr would have an above average chance to win. If Pavlik shows us that he’s back and committed Chavez Jr wouldn’t go 9. Mayweather behaving that way is far from breaking news. As it relates to Mayweather, all I want to see him do is fight Manny Pacquiao. Period. End of story.
What a great Saturday night of boxing. As always, I am a little late to the bag but I wanted to give you my thoughts. Broner is a good looking young fighter. I don’t give much credence to the belt he has since all of the sanctioning bodies have devalued a belt more than a WWE title! That being said, he has a nice offensive skill set but we haven’t seen him tested defensively. I would love to see him in with Gamboa, even though Gamboa is a 126 lb. fighter I am on the Gary Russell bandwagon. Even though he is a little guy, he is exciting as hell to watch. I would love to see him get some real shine on HBO instead of just being “leftovers” Nothing to add on Canelo that hasn’t been said. He fights guys that are tailor made for him. GBP is totally protecting him. Until he fights a legit guy at 154, I am not sold. I was watching movies this weekend and found the perfect example of you and Bread. MASTER BLASTER FROM MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME! LOL…G is a beast with the business side of the game, and Bread knows the technical side of the game. You put them together and watch out! Leon’s Response: Not so sure I would call it great. I feel like I witnessed three mismatches that played out as such. HBO is supposed to be the top of the food chain as it relates to the bouts that they air. Wasting dates on three mismatches for guys have apparently been annointed, is nuts to me. Each fight televised at the highest level of boxing should be a 60/40 at worst fight for the “house” fighter. Leave the 95/5 fights on networks that pay much less money where they belong, not on HBO. With that being said, Broner and Russell Jr are great young talents and I look forward to watching them develop. In the very near future they need to matched with somebody who has a chance or start fighting elsewhere. Hopefully the Greenburg’s exile was the end of 95/5 fights on HBO.
