Pacquiao Vs. Mayweather: The Ball’s in Manny’s Court Now

But things in boxing are never quite that easy, especially when dealing with Top Rank CEO, Bob Arum, who often executes his business with the attitude and temperament of a jilted teenage girl and wields his power like a bazooka at a water balloon fight.

Don’t let the media manipulation and misdirection fool you. Arum doesn’t want this fight. He doesn’t want to put a red cent into the pocket of former client, Floyd Mayweather and, most of all, he doesn’t want to put his cash cow in the ring against a fighter not signed to a Top Rank promotional deal– especially against a fighter with more than a fair chance of upsetting the entire operation.

If this mega-fight gets made it’s going to have to be at the insistence of Manny Pacquiao, himself.

Manny will have to put his foot down and insist that an honest effort be made to negotiate and sign the fight. And, likely, he’ll also have to supervise the efforts to make sure that Arum isn’t just pushing papers around while issuing bogus statements to the press as he usually does when the topic of Floyd Mayweather pops up.

This fight will absolutely not get made if Arum is left to his own devices, especially while there are a few more pennies to be squeezed from Manny.

If Team Pacquiao is to be believed, random drug testing is no longer an issue and the money split was long ago established at a mutually beneficial 50-50. The fight is there for the making.
