WORLD Boxing Council super bantamweight champion Israel Vasquez, who has beaten Oscar Larios twice, advised Filipino ring idol and national treasure Manny Pacquiao to “apply a lot of pressure” early in his Mano-A-Mano showdown with the Mexican at the Araneta Coliseum on July 2.
In an interview with Felipe Leon of Fight News, Vasquez warned Pacquiao that Larios tends to be the kind of fighter that “gets stronger as the fight gets in the later rounds and although his punch is not devastating, his work rate is very high and very consistent.”
Larios, who has been training for the past two months, had earlier predicted he would win by a knockout between the sixth and 10th rounds.
Vasquez, who has often engaged Pacquiao in torrid sparring sessions in the past at the Wild Card Gym of Freddie Roach, who trains both fighters, said that if he had been offered to fight Pacquiao, he would have taken it but added, “it would be very risky.”
