Things are beginning to heat up regarding a possible matchup between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao on May 5, 2012. That’s the only conclusion you can draw from the fact that Pacquiao’s adviser, Michael Koncz, visited Mayweather at Mayweather’s Gym in Las Vegas last week.
Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather’s advisor, said there was nothing to the visit and that no business was discussed between the parties while Koncz was there.
“He was in a group of people that came by the gym and was greeted by Floyd, who is friendly with everybody that comes by the gym,” Ellerbe said. “Floyd doesn’t know Michael Koncz from a high school basketball player from Biloxi, Miss.?
But the fact that Koncz decided to visit Mayweather at his gym at least shows that there is a thaw in the relationship between the two sides that has grown increasingly frosty since negotiations first broke down for a fight two years ago. It also may indicate that there is a difference of opinion within the Pacquiao camp as to whom Pacquiao should fight next.
Ellerbe said Koncz talked to Mayweather, who was at the gym shaking out, and even took pictures with him.
