Note to Pacquiao- Stand up to Arum and command him to make the big fight happen already? Pacquiao, you are in position to call the shots and make demands. I don?t want to hear this ?I?m the fighter, I fight who my promoter wants me to fight? bs line anymore. Secure the big fight and show us all why you deserve to still be the #1 pound for pound fighter in the sport.
Note to Floyd Mayweather Jr.- Stand up to the man in the mirror, look him dead in his eye and repeat after me, I got this, I can beat Pacquiao with test or no test, if Marquez was able to catch and shoot on Pacquiao at will, then I should be able to shoot jumpers all day on his ass. After you give yourself enough confidence, get the money team on the horn and make this happen.
The much improved Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.- Last Saturday night, Peter Manfredo Jr. was stopped in 5 rounds by tko by the now 44-0-1 Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The first 2 rounds easily went to Chavez Jr. as he was pretty much able to do whatever he pleased to Manfredo. The action began to heat up in the third round as Manfredo began to take a stand and began to fire back with strong body shots. The fourth round was very much like the 3rd round, Chavez began to box while in retreat mode and was able land the harder shots as Manfredo kept on charging in. The end came in the 5th round as Chavez Jr. was able to catch Manfredo with a nasty right hand that shook up Manfredo, Chavez Jr. then closed in and began to unload shot after shot. It must be noted that even though Chavez Jr. was lucky to land 6 of the 50 something punches thrown as he tried to close the show, the ref felt the need to step in and stop the fight since Manfredo was not responding to the assault. I felt that Chavez Jr. exceeded the expectations, which is why I personally feel that it is now time for Chavez Jr. to start facing real contenders opposed to facing fighters that USED to be on The Contender. A mega bout between Chavez Jr. and Canelo Alvarez looms on the horizon, but to get there, Chavez Jr.?s promoter Top Rank must play nice with Canelo?s promoter, Golden Boy Promotions. Easier said than done. I would be far from surprised if Chavez Jr. is already penciled in to face the winner in next weeks much anticipated rematch clash between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito. We shall see.
Canelo Alvarez vs. Kermit Cintron- First of all, I?m going to start this off by saying that a whole lot of you out there are sleeping on Kermit Cintron. Fight fans keep coming up to me and are messaging me saying that Canelo is going to stop Cintron inside 5 rounds. If Canelo is as dominant as some fight fans claim him to be, then Canelo should be able to knock out Kermit Cintron with ease. It?s hard to say what will happen in this fight that is going down this weekend. I am expecting for the Cintron that outboxed Alfredo Angulo to show up for this fight. Does that mean that Cintron will also be able to outbox Canelo as he was able to do against Angulo? Who knows, what I do know is that Canelo like Angulo has very good pop in his punch so I can see Canelo putting hands on Kermit and making Kermit hop on out of there. But Kermit himself also has very heavy hands that can change things in there. If I?m Kermit, I would hop in there and circle Canelo and keep turning him. If I?m Canelo, I would close in fast behind nose breaking jabs and take the fight right to Cintron?s grill. Tune in to HBO this Saturday night to find out who?s the man with the master plan.
