To the many fans who want to see Chavez Jr. against stouter opposition, if he?s going to fight former reality show stars, they think he?d be better off facing ?Snooki? or ?The Situation.? Most are already looking ahead to a 2012 showdown against WBC junior middleweight titlist Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez.
They also believe that Manfredo is just another carefully handpicked foe by Top Rank.
?I?m just thinking about Saturday because without getting a win there, there?s nothing to look forward to,? said Chavez Jr. on Tuesday, through Top Rank publicist Ricardo Jimenez, ?so I have to concentrate on this Saturday, get that over with, get the win and then look forward to whatever comes next.? Regarding Manfredo, he says. ?I know it?s a difficult fight. I feel good and I?ve prepared myself very well for it.?
Chavez has heard the talk of a possible showdown with Alvarez, who has eclipsed Junior in popularity with the Mexican fan base.
?Obviously, that?s the fight everyone?s talking about. I?d love to have that fight next and if it happens, that would be great because a lot of people want to see it,? said Chavez, who doesn?t really consider Alvarez a rival. ?I just want to fight him and beat him. That?s how I think about that fight.?
