Interesting peice you just wrote about Manny Pacquiao. So do you still think he won’t be easy work for Floyd Mayweather as I spent an hour last week educating you on? You finally hit the nail on the head as to who is really blocking the fight. [It’s Promoter Bob] Arum, the old promotional gangster who understands what will be up if he feeds Pac to Mayweather. This whole BS of not fighting Mayweather because of his request for drug testing is a red herring. So is Mayweather being afraid to lose his 0. You finally figured it out. Good for you.
Darrell?s Response: Ha ha, you?re funny dude. I haven?t changed my stance as to why the fight up to this point hasn?t been made. I still place the vast majority of the blame on Floyd Jr. I just feel that now there is a very good possibility that Mayweather is a little more willing to face Pacquiao now that he has seen him struggle with a guy that he dominated and off a 2 year layoff to boot. I think it?s time for Pacquiao to back Floyd into a corner and to do something uncharacteristic and call Floyd out, while at the same time reminding Arum that he is the boss and not the Bobster. I?ve never liked Pacquiao?s passiveness in regards to Arum irrespective of whether it involved the Mayweather fight or not. Sure, it?s a fighter?s job to fight and a promoter?s job to promote and do what is in the best interest of his/her fighter, but sometimes the promoter goes on a power trip and forgets that he/she works for the fighter, not the other way around. I?d like to see Manny remind Arum of this.
I have never stated that I believe that Pacquiao would beat Mayweather. I have been consistent in my belief that Mayweather would beat Pacquiao, and probably by knockout. I have also been fair and stated that although I believe that the majority of the blame for the fight not having happened yet falls on Floyd, Arum and Pacquiao have not exactly made it any easier. Arum is a greedy old bastard and Pacquiao needs to man up and publically call Floyd out and back him into a corner. I think you are greatly underrating Marquez who is a legit Hall of Famer and a top 10 pound for pound fighter even given the fact that he is an ?old 38 year old lightweight? who has now given Pacquiao fucking fits on THREE OCCASIONS. How many more times do they need to fight for you to admit that Marquez is a great fighter who has his number? Also, you label Marquez a ?lightweight?, but failed to mention that Pacquiao weighed in at 138 as recently as 2009 and could still make 140lbs as we speak (he weighed in at 143 for this fight and made the 144 lb contractual catchweight easily). On the night of the fight, Marquez actually weighed 2 pounds heavier!
As I always say, actions speak louder than words and up until now, no matter how much you want to believe it to be the case, Mayweather has not shown a strong urge to face Pacquiao. I agree that Arum hasn?t shown a strong urge to make the fight because as I wrote in my article, he hates Mayweather and the fact that he lost out on big paydays after Floyd left him, loves money more than anything and Pacquiao has been too deferential to Bob. If Manny were to be more aggressive with Bob, and the fight still didn?t happen then none of them blame could be placed on him. I don?t know how much more objective I can be. You guys believe that unless one shows unconditional love for a fighter the way a mother does for her child and is willing to defend him irrespective of what he says or does, he must be a hater. I am a bigger fan of Mayweather the fighter than I am of Pacquiao, even though I think Manny is the more exciting fighter. I appreciate the sweet science and I scouted Mayweather out going back to the ?96 Olympics.
