You know, when this week started yours truly had a head full of ideas for the next edition of ?Ringside With Raymundo?, which was going to be a concise column on what exactly has been stated by both Team Pac and Team May, with direct quotes from all the important types, and I was ready to make a few points, and even a few predictions as to what will happen next.
As the week got longer though, so did the back and forth banter from both sides. Forget the quotes. Forget the hypothetical ?what if? stories. In the following months heading into 2012, expect more twists and turns than a rollercoaster, more he said she said type quotes and ultimately, a lockout just like the NBA is in right now.
So you now what, boxing fans?
We all have to revert to the age old adage of ?the only thing for sure in boxing is that nothing is for sure?, or something along those lines.
I was ready to pen a piece titled ?Who Woke up Happy on November 13th??, which was to highlight the fact that out of the fans in attendance and on pay-per-view, as well as everyone involved in yet a third controversial outcome of a Pacquiao/Marquez showdown, the only person/persons that woke up happy the next day were Floyd Mayweather and the ?Money Team?, and I penned a nice little quirk where I renamed USADA this: MUSADA. (I?m sure you can guess what the ?M? stands for.)
However, things seem to change on at least a weekly basis regarding the never ending saga that is a showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, and will continue to into the next year.
In fact, by the time you read this paragraph, Mayweather could have already released a statement stating that he wishes to fight again in May 2013, and that he didn?t mean he was going to return in May 2012, (Mayweather did already contradict the May date in a recent interview, and actually pointed that February would mark his return) and Bob Arum could have released a statement stating that Pacquiao will fight Marquez again for chapter four, and there will be as many chapters as it takes for Pacquiao to finally log an official, undisputed, unanimous win, whether that be in 2012, or 2013, or 2014.
