I’m not a Manny Pacquiao hater, I just never bought all the hype. I respect Pacquiao and anyone who has the heart to step into the squared circle. I actually put $$ on Pacquiao in the De La Hoya and Cotto fight. I knew Oscar was shot after that performance against Stevie Forbes, I also had word from Joe Chavez a couple of days from the weigh in, that Oscar was getting bombed on by Valero in sparring. In regards to Cotto after Margacheato brutally stopped him and Cotto squeaked out a win against Clottey the only reason he won was because Clottey didn’t punch enough. With that being said.. Bob Arum made a killing with that De La Hoya.. He knew Cotto wasnt the same. Also, it was a catch weight fight at 145lbs, advantage Pacquiao. Was I impressed that Pacquiao beat Cotto? No, lol. Bob Arum knew cotto wasnt the same. After that fight Bob Arum and Pacquiao fought Clottey, Margacheato and Mosley. I’m not even going to comment on Pacquiao beating the crap out of Margarito.. Why? Because Pacquiao was the a big favorite going into the fight! Lol. You want to say that Pacquiao bombed on a bigger dude like its something extraordinary. Dude he was the favorite! Smh.. Fight with Marquez should have been made 2 years ago, but he was busy fighting Margacheato, Mosley and Clottey.
Leon’s Response: I think you’re confusing Bob Arum’s business acumen for boxing eyes. Arum has people on his staff that are boxing mensa’s. As a businessman if he has both boxers, he has the winner regardless. Arum knew he had the winner of Pacquiao-Cotto and he also knew that the winner would be a big star. Had he fought Marquez two years ago we would not have been treated to the Juan Diaz fight. You guys are all being way too hard on Manny. Fact is Juan Manuel Marquez has his number and will always give him a good fight. Truth is all Mayweather had to do was fight Oscar the second time and Manny Pacquiao would not be the superstar he is today. PERIOD.
