Earlier today at the Fiesta Mart in Houston, Texas, WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. made an appearance before over 1,000 of his loyal followers. Chavez is in town for this weekend?s bout with former title challenger Peter Manfredo Jr., known best for his time on NBC?s inaugural edition of ?The Contender?.
While there have been those critical of Chavez?s skills so far during his 8-plus years as a pro, you can?t deny his star appeal at only 25 years old. The son of the former legend by the same name, Chavez?s appeal is starting to grow and he is showing fight by fight that there is actually some substance to his attack.
The Manfredo fight may not give us the definitive answers we need but 2012 will likely tell us more of what we need to know with Chavez.
