Marquez sets conditions for fourth fight, wants Pacquiao?s latest win declared ?no contest?

MANNY Pacquiao and his promoter Bob Arum are keen on another rematch with Juan Manuel Marquez next year after the third encounter between the Filipino pound-for-pound king and the Mexican superstar once again ended in controversy last Sunday (Philippine time) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Marquez, who was disappointed with the outcome of the fight that he believed he clearly won, would only accept a fight with Pacquiao if it will be under his terms.

The 38-year-old future hall-of-fame?s conditions are that the third fight must be declared a no contest, Pacquiao must accept that he lost, he must receive a guaranteed purse of $10 million and that the fourth encounter must take place Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

?Now I am the one who will put forth the conditions. I want to see if it is true that Manny Pacquiao fights for the people. First he has to accept that he lost, the WBO (World Boxing Organization) must not accept the decision they gave him, and give him a no-contest,? said Marquez, who was already considering hanging his gloves after the frustrating loss, in a report posted at the Examiner.com.

Pacquiao escaped with a close majority decision over Marquez and retained his WBO welterweight crown. Pacquiao was given scores of 116-112 and 115-113 by two judges, while the other judge saw it even at 114-114.

Pacquiao?s other two meeting with Marquez were also too close to call. The first fight ended in a draw, while the Pacquiao escaped with a razor-thin split decision victory in the second fight.

A fourth fight would end all controversy, that is if either superstars would win decisively unlike their previous three encounters.
