The boxing world is still buzzing over last night?s third encounter between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez. Inside of a packed house at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Pacquiao would eke out a majority-decision in a fight that several observers felt he deserved to lose.
At the post-fight press conference, I mingled with several insiders, from trainers to fellow fighters to writers alike, and the majority seemed to feel that Marquez had done enough to get the nod, some even crying robbery. Top Rank promoter Bob Arum mentioned that he would be eyeing a fourth between Pacquiao and Marquez and several people couldn?t help but to wonder how Floyd Mayweather Jr. would have looked had he been the one in the ring with Pacquiao on this night. Marquez mentioned that he would contemplate retirement, as he was visibly frustrated with the way the decision was ruled. Who knows what the future holds for either man but let?s not overlook the fact that once again, Pacquiao and Marquez gave us a tremendous fight.
