ALA Boy Z “The Dream” Gorres demolished Columbian sub Pedro Rincon Miranda in 10 rounds in the undercard of a double-World Boxing Organization championship card at the Home Depot in Carson City, California yesterday.
In his debut under the Golden Boy Promotions and third fight in the US, Gorres dominated Miranda, a replacement fighter after Puerto Rico’s Jose Laureano failed to make it to the card because of visa problems, scoring a unanimous decision win.
All judges scored the bout 100-87 in favor of the Mandaue City fighter.
The Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) bantamweight champion scored three knockdowns but Miranda made it through the final bell.
The first knockdown was in the first round, then in the fifth and finally in the 10th.
“What can we ask for? Gorres scored three knockdowns but Miranda was exceptionally tough. Those punches he received were very hard punches,” said ALA Boys manager Antonio Aldeguer.
Following Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista’s third-round KO win over Roberto Bonilla of Nicaragua, the pressure was for Gorres to do the same.
However, his dominating victory was more than enough to meet the expectations of his promoters.
The victory improved Gorres to 24-1-1 win-loss-draw, with 12 wins by KO. Miranda dropped to 31-11-2 with 25 KOs.
