We pick a winner: Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez III

NEVER doubt a man who has worked at Boxing News since 1985. Daniel Herbert has been hovering menacingly on the shoulders of the leaders of the BN Prediction League for a number of weeks now. And like a crafty long distance runner, he has picked his moment to strike.

He was the only one who foresaw a victory for Ricky Burns last week and he leapfrogs John Dennen and Matt Christie to move within a point of leader Tris Dixon. Dennen and Nick Bond both suffered for picking Paul Smith over George Groves in the other fight we examined.

This is how we stand:

1. Tris Dixon 42 pts (15 of 20 predictions correct)

2. Daniel Herbert 41 pts (16 of 20)

3. Matt Christie 39 pts (15 of 20)

3. John Dennen 39 pts (15 of 20)

5. Danny Flexen 37 pts (14 of 20)

6. Nick Bond 33 pts (12 of 20)

Two points for picking the correct winner, extra bonus point for mode of victory

This time we look at the Las Vegas showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez. Can their third meeting produce a victory the Mexican feels he deserves?

What do you guys think? Click on comments below and Let us know your predictions.

MANNY PACQUIAO-JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ

Tris Dixon: Two schools of thought, one is that Marquez?s style will always present Pacquiao with problems while the other is that Pacquiao has improved since their last fight, not to mention become bigger and stronger. Marquez might be motivated but I believe he may have regressed sufficiently for Pacquaio to finally put their rivalry to bed with a stoppage between eight and 10 rounds.

Daniel Herbert: Marquez gave Manny problems in their first two fights, but that was when he was lighter and fresher. Becoming more aggressive in recent years has broadened his box-office appeal but will play right into the hands of Pacquiao, whose speed and hurtful hitting will bust up the Mexican for a stoppage in nine rounds.
