Jessie Vargas says he would knock out Amir Khan and derail his Mayweather dreams

Undefeated junior welterweight Jessie Vargas is an all-around good guy but make no mistake, he certainly has some fire hidden beneath his modest ways. During a recent visit to the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas, Vargas could be found getting ready for another workout and prior to his routine he had a lot that he wanted to get off of his chest. Vargas fights underneath Floyd Mayweather Jr.?s Mayweather Promotions umbrella and considers the undefeated superstar a close friend. Mayweather is coming off of a 4th-round knockout over Victor Ortiz on September 17th at the nearby MGM Grand and prior to the fight he addressed the possibility of an eventual clash with Amir Khan by stating that the British star would have to face Vargas first before a fight like that could ever materialize.

Vargas is coming off of a harder-than-expected split-decision over underrated Josesito Lopez that took place on the Mayweather-Ortiz undercard, yet his aspirations are still in check after that litmus test. Vargas not only reached out to show his interest in a fight with Amir Khan, but also took some shots at the WBA junior welterweight champion, even claiming he would knock him out if the two ever met.
