It may occur as often as the arrival of Halley?s Comet but right now I am in agreement with Floyd Mayweather Jr., his camp and his ardent fans who say that there is a double standard.
Can you imagine the outcry, the aggravation, the public bleating from Mayweather critics, including Yours Very Saracastically, if it was ?Money? who hired admitted steroid dealer and federal court snitch Angel Heredia or Angel Hernandez or whatever his name is this week?
The critics would be reaching for the hammer, the nails and a wooden cross on which to impale the controversial Mayweather.
Mayweather would be getting pilloried if he had hired the snitch who put on his rat jacket to insure that track superstar Marion Jones and others went to the slammer and that he remained at liberty.
But it looks as though Manny Pacquiao?s Nov. 12 opponent Juan Manuel Marquez will get a free pass on his woefully bad judgment on this.
Already, some defenders point out, that well you know that steroids are not illegal in Mexico. Advertisement
That is hardly the point.
Sometimes, Mayweather, his minions and his millions of fans are on point. Marquez won?t get crucified for this but Mayweather would?ve been nailed immediately if he did the same thing.
Yes, Mayweather passes himself as Mister Cleaner Than Thou but maybe, just maybe, he is 99 44/100 pure when it comes to cheating with drugs.
