As a former veteran myself, I was very happy to see that Manny Pacquiao took a few minutes out of his busy schedule to sit down and VIA Skype, talk to some American soldiers who are based in Afghanistan.
My nephew Brendan is currently in his 6th week of Marine Corp boot camp down on Paris Island, SC. When I found out what Manny had done with our troops it truly touched my heart. Pacquiao who’s not even an American citizen showed a lot of respect to those men and women who fight for America.
Earlier this year my community lost Staff Sgt Jason Rogers (USM). He was killed in Afghanistan saving the lives of two Marines. Ironically, I just visited this hero’s final resting place this morning. When I got home, I visited Philboxing.com and that’s where I read what Manny did for our troops.
Serving our country in hostile grounds is a very stressful thing to do. For the men and women who were fortunate enough to get to relax for a few minutes, and talk to the world’s most recognized fighter, it meant a lot. Something like this raises the moral of our troops, and it helps them get through some tough days.
