” I don’t understand it. I knocked out the great Roy Jones Jr. I defeated the fighter of the year in 2004 Glen Johnson and I get no credit for the victories. I won’t be appreciated until I step away from the game,” said Antonio Tarver.
Tarver is treated like he is this era’s Buster Douglas. However, he is not a journeyman boxer with a career based on just one fight. He has beaten several boxing champions such as Clinton Woods, Glen Johnson, Montell Griffin, Reggie Johnson and Roy Jones Jr. Therefore, what are four reasons why Antonio Tarver is underrated?
Antonio Tarver’s Underrated Power
Tarver has deceptive punching power. He has one of the most powerful left hands in the light heavyweight and cruiserweight divisions. He is a patience boxer that waits for an opening to land his power punches.
Tarver in his last fight knocked down Danny Green with a powerful straight left hand in the second round. Then, he hurt Green with some power shots in the ninth round, which led Green’s corner to stop the bout.
