EDDIE MUSTAFA MUHAMMAD: “WE ALL KNOW BERNARD’S HISTORY…CHAD WON THE FIGHT”

“Bernard did not have an answer to what Chad was dishing out…we all know Bernard’s history, and it’s like this here, boxing matches and championships are won in the ring. I thought that Chad won the fight, but there is going to be a lot of controversy and at the end of the day, in my opinion, I think this decision should stand. Chad should remain light heavyweight champion…If I’m not mistaken, I think the canvas has sufficient padding. I’m 59 years old and if I jump up and down in the ring and fall down on my back, I think I could get up and continue. It’s funny, and you know what, I paid for the fight and I wasn’t disappointed with the outcome. When I was working with Chad, we all wanted Bernard and he skated on us for almost 2 years, but at the end of the day, it finally came to fruition who is the best light heavyweight out there. Like I said, Chad was mentally strong and physically strong,” stated world-class trainer Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, who shared his thoughts on last weekend’s light heavyweight clash between Chad Dawson and Bernard Hopkins. Check it out!

PC: We only got about a round and a half, but during that short time, what did you think of the action going on in there?

EMM: First and foremost, I would like to congratulate Chad Dawson. As far as the action was going, I thought that Chad was ready mentally and physically. He appeared to be a lot stronger than Bernard Hopkins’ people anticipated.

PC: When you were with Chad, Bernard said he didn’t want to fight younger guys. Do you think the Pascal and Diaconu fight made Bernard change his mind about that fight and in turn, he didn’t get that Dawson that showed up for those fights?

EMM: Yeah, and he caught Chad at the strongest point probably of his career. Like I said, Chad was strong mentally and physically, and he was in excellent condition. Bernard did not have an answer to what Chad was dishing out.
