TWO-TIME WORLD champion Manny Pacquiao comes face to face with Mexican Oscar “Chololo” Larios of Mexico for the second time in a news conference as they meet with the international media today for their 12-round mano-a-mano superfeatherweight championship in Manila.
The meeting between the Pacman and Chololo will be at the Avalon Room of the Westin Bonaventure Hotel. Larios is flying in from Mexico City while Pacquiao drives from the Wildcard gym, only about 20 minutes away.
Interest is very high on the coming Pacquiao fight, headlining the ‘Mano-a-Mano, Philippines contra Mexico showdown,’ scheduled on July 2 at the Araneta Coliseum.
Boxing legend Oscar dela Hoya warned Pacquiao not to take Larios lightly, saying: “At 130 lbs., Larios should be stronger. It’s a weight division where he fits well with his height and heft.”
American trainer Freddie Roach said Pacquiao is unfazed, describing Pacquiao’s current training in LA as “going on schedule, one that will make sure Manny will be ready for Larios.”
The Pacman’s coming showdown with Larios is now being compared to the Ali-Frazier III “Thrilla in Manila,” which was also held at the ‘Big Dome’ 31 years ago.
