As bad as the boxing fans want to see the big fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr, I wouldn’t count on it anytime soon. With the recent Top Rank signing of Timothy Bradley, it is pretty obvious who is being lined up for Pacquiao’s next opponent.
Pacman is currently in training for his next opponent, Juan Manuel Marquez. Timothy Bradley is as they say in baseball, ”on deck” and more than likely another Top Rank fighter will be after Bradley.
Recently I wrote an article that talked about how people should not blame Mayweather or Pacquiao for the big fight not happening. There is another theory here. Top Rank maximizes it’s earnings by feeding Manny Top Rank opponents one after another. Top Rank controls everything this way. If Floyd gets into the mix, he has much more say when it comes to the money negotiations, as he is not promoted by anyone but himself. And he has the ever so stealthy Al Haymon at hand.
It’s all about timing. The time is not right for Top Rank to green light the Mayweather fight. Right now they have a red light shining brightly. No Mayweather, at least not yet. Once Top Rank runs out of opponents to feed to Manny, then they will cash out and green light the Mayweather fight.
