I authentically feel deceived by Mike Tyson and his manager ? says Tom Babiloński. The Polish boxing promoter invited the legendary boxer to Poland ? paid $ 48 000 into his manager?s bank account, however Mike Tyson failed to return the invitation ? and the money.
– We will meet in court ? states Babiloński. His case is strong. Carl Holness, who claims to be Mike Tyson?s manager, several weeks ago in the presence of a lawyer, signed a legal contract promising to return the amount which had been transferred to his account, within 7 days. Several weeks have passed but the money is yet to be returned. Moreover, since making the legal declaration to pay back the cash, all attempts to get in touch with Mr Holness have come to no avail ? Mike Tyson?s ?manager? has both failed to answer all phone calls and mails sent from owner of Babilon Promotion.
Mr. Tyson was meant to be special guest of ?Wojak Boxing Stars? boxing event on the night of the 16th of September in Warsaw?s Torwar Hall. ? In March of this year, both Mr. Holness and Mike Tyson were special guests during a sports? event in the Czech Republic?s capital, Prague. That is where Tom Babiloński first met Mr. Holness.
– We talked about the possibility of inviting Mike Tyson to Poland. I thought I was talking to serious people but I was wrong. The initial negotiations went smoothly. A fee was arranged and two installments were made ? almost $50 000 in total. I also bought two airline tickets from Las Vegas and two from London and this is when things took a turn for the worse, with a demand from Holness to considerably increase the negotiated fee which had been previously agreed in the contract.
Though it is inappropriate to use the term ?blackmail? there seems to be a point. Later it occurred that Mike Tyson would not be appearing in Poland which was officially announced by Holness in Warsaw. That very same day Mike Tyson?s manager signed an agreement with Tomasz Babiloński to return the money which had been transferred to his account. Since then I have neither spoken to nor heard from the man ? says Tom Babiloński. I have only received a reply to contact his lawyer, and yet all this could have been avoided and sorted out amicably.
According to the terms of the contract, Mr. Babiloński was given permission to invite Mike Tyson to a sponsored photograph session and get the legendary boxer involved in other marketing activities. ? I found several very serious sponsors and now what? How can I be treated seriously? ? said owner of Babilon Promotion.
