CEBUANO boxing fanatics will have a chance to witness the country?s biggest boxing event this year without leaving the comfort of their homes as ?Pinoy Pride 9? will be shown live on pay-per-view in Cebu City.
Due to the magnitude of the event, which features the world title tussle between former world champion Donnie Nietes and Mexican World Boxing Organization (WBO) light flyweight title holder Ramon Garcia at the University of St. La Salle Gym in Bacolod City on Oct. 8, ALA Promotions has decided to bring the fight live to the Cebuanos through Sky Cable.
?Cebu deserves it. This is where it belongs,? ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer said in a press conference yesterday at the Cebu Grand Hotel.
Sky Cable subscribers may avail themselves of the pay-per-view for P300. The live airing of the event will start at 8 p.m. and the three main bouts will be shown.
Aldeguer said the pay-per-view will be available initially in Cebu, where ALA Promotions is based. In the next ?Pinoy Pride? events, he will be looking at offering it nationwide.
?This is our stepping stone to bring Philippine boxing to the next level,? said Aldeguer.
The other fights that will be shown on pay-per-view are the WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight title defense of AJ Banal against unbeaten Mexican Mario Briones and the 10-round bout between Kenyan warrior Shaaban Madilu and a replacement fighter for Arthur Villanueva.
The Cebuano boxing fans will also have an alternate choice of watching it on the big screen as the SM cinemas will also be showing ?Pinoy Pride 9? live with tickets pegged at P200.
This is the second time a local bout is shown via pay-per-view. The other was the World Boxing Council International super featherweight bout between Manny Pacquiao and Oscar Larios.
