8CN sat down with Pawel Wolak this evening and got his thoughts about the much anticipated rematch between himself and Delvin Rodriguez. These two warriors put on one of the most thrilling epic boxing wars in many years. Wolak talked to 8CN this evening about the fight.
On the rematch with Rodriguez becoming a reality – – ?Its very exciting. It’s exactly what I wanted. I went to Vegas with Cameran Duncan and told them that I wanted this rematch awhile ago. It would be two rematches on the card, it makes perfect sense, Cotto Vs. Margarito and me and Delvin Rodriguez.?
On fighting in New York in front of a lot of Polish fans – – ?I hope I am getting more on the radar of the Polish people living right here in the Tri State area. I am expecting a big turnout.?
On how he learned of the rematch being a done deal – ?Monday night I was at work. I work in Harlem, NY and my adviser asked me if I would be up for fighting Delvin again. At first Top Rank didn’t want the fight, but then they told me that the fight might happen. I called my trainer Terrific and he told me that he was with me. I didn’t hear anything until Tuesday, I guess they were negotiating with Delvin’s camp. That night I saw on Boxingscene that the rematch is 99 percent sure. On Wednesday, I heard from Top Rank that it was a done deal.?
More on how the rematch came to be – ?I was disappointed with getting a draw in the first fight. The best thing that could have happened to me was that swollen eye that I got. A lot of people talked about it and it made a lot of noise. Top Rank right after the 1st fight didn’t want me to fight him right away. I went after K9 and that didn’t happen. On Monday Top Rank said what about the rematch, and I said let’s do it.?
