8CN sat down with the former light heavyweight world champion Glen Johnson and got his thoughts on his big upcoming fight Vs. current world champion Lucian Bute. This fight is scheduled for November 5th, at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City, Canada. Johnson also talks about the recent Floyd Mayweather knockout victory over Victor Ortiz, and Manny Pacquiao’s upcoming fight Vs. Juan Manuel Marquez.
8CN – Glen what is up bud?
GJ ? No t much man, just looking forward to my fight on November 5th.
8CN ? You are fighting Lucian Bute in Canada. Obviously you want to knock this guy out as opposed to it going to the cards.
GJ ? Definitely, we would prefer it not go to the cards. Everyone knows what can happen if it goes to the cards. You don’t know what any in particular judge is looking for. You are always more sure if you can take a fight and put it into your own hands. I’m just focused on the the fight and yes, we would definitely prefer a knockout.
8CN ? Have you guys lobbied to get all three judges to be from Dade County? (laughs)
GJ ? (Laughs) ? Well I have been robbed right here in America, so it doesn’t really matter where the fight is. Judges are influenced by the politics of boxing, it doesn’t make a difference where the fight takes place.
8CN ? When you look at Bute, are there some things in his game that you see that you can exploit?
GJ ? Oh yes, I see many things that I can exploit. When you look at a fighter from the outside looking in there are always some things that you can see. We know what he’s good at and what his weaknesses are. We want to take away the things that he does well.
8CN ? He’s fought decent opponents, but I don’t think he’s fought anyone of your experience. Do you see that as an advantage for you?
GJ ? Certainly. When you look at his resume, I don’t see anyone on there that would beat me. We have seen him struggle in some of his fights. You really just have to know how to fight people at the creme of the crop, and I feel that’s where I am. This is the kind of attitude that we are bringing into the ring, and we feel that we will come out victorious.
8CN ? How’s camp going so far? Are you feeling good?
GJ ? I feel great. We are right where we want to be. We are putting together our game plan, and it’s coming together nice. We are already sparring, training camp has been excellent.
8CN ? What is the difference for you in this title shot as opposed to your previous ones?
GJ ? These opportunities don’t come around very often. Some guys only get one shot at these and some get none. I have been fortunate to get more than one. I have a great team around me that put me in this position. This is one that I have to capitalize on. This is a do or die situation.
