MANILA, Philippines ? Even Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum believes the 8-1 odds favoring Manny Pacquiao against Juan Manuel Marquez is outrageous.
?Wait until Mexican money comes in,? said Arum recently, implying that Marquez is a live underdog when he faces Pacquiao for the third time on Nov. 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Oddsmakers have installed the Filipino an 8-1 favorite against Marquez, the Mexican counter-puncher who engaged Pacquiao in two thrilling encounters.
Arum said the first two Pacquiao-Marquez fights in 2004 and 2008 were life-and-death experiences and he expects the same thing when they collide in the much-awaited rubber match.
The fight is so competitive that a fourth fight will have to be staged in the event Marquez scores an upset, said the 79-year-old Arum, whose Top Rank Inc. is holding the world welterweight title fight.
