Last night HBO took an unconventional approach by airing a replay of last weekend?s Floyd Mayweather-Victor Ortiz bout, infused with coverage from their excellent 24/7 series. Viewers were treated to a behind-the-scenes look during the final few nights for the two fighters that took off right from the raucous weigh-in and finished up with Mayweather and Ortiz exiting the MGM Grand after the post-fight press conference.
Such highlights in the episode included Mayweather handling business at his mansion, Leonard Ellerbe getting into a debate with trainers Danny Garcia and Joe Janik in the dressing room over the wrapping of Ortiz?s hands, Victor checking out his plush room at the MGM Grand, a unique look at the replay of the fight, and the ambience of the post-fight presser.
At the end of the day it was a learning lesson for Ortiz and another victory for Mayweather, who now stands at 42-0 with 26 knockouts.
