4 time former heavyweight world champion Evander Holyfield breaks down the Mayweather Vs. Ortiz fight. Evander tells 8CN that he sides with Floyd Mayweather Jr on this issue. Holyfield tells 8CN that the Ortiz headbutt threw on Mayweather reminded him of when Mike Tyson bit him on his ear. Evander says it was out of frustration, that’s why Ortiz threw the headbutt. 8CN ? Evander what are your thoughts on the Mayweather knockout over Victor Ortiz?
EH ? I saw the fight and it was clear as day where you can see that Ortiz headbutts him on purpose. Yea he apologized but he did headbutt him. At the end when he got knocked out it appeared like Floyd got him fair. Cortez said to box. Cortez said box and Floyd boxed. When it all comes together, I don’t see nothing that Floyd did wrong. He did what the referee told him to do, fight.
8CN ? Ortiz apologized 3 times, and I might add it was one of the worst and blatant headbutts I have ever seen. He hugged him on the cheek for apology number one, then when Cortez took the points the two fighters touched gloves again, and it was the third apology when Floyd heard enough. I don’t understand what the problem is here.
EH ? Me either. Maybe the angle of the shot made it look bad. When Floyd hit him with the left hook that wasn’t the shot that hurt him. Ortiz looked at the referee after the left hook as if to ask him, ‘Are you going to take a point for that?’ by the time the ref turned back, he got hit right on the chin. That was the one that hurt him, that second one. When the left hit him, he dropped his hand and looked at the ref like, ‘look he just hit me!’ trying to get the ref to take a point from Floyd. Ortiz missed the whole point, he dropped his hands and got caught with that shot. I didn’t think Cortez should DQ Floyd for that. Cortez definitely told them to fight, Floyd was right.
8CN ? Cortez stopped the clock to take the point away. Obviously the time keeper didn’t just take it upon themselves to start the clock again. Protect yourself at all times right champ?
