Top trainer Freddie Roach is more than hopeful that Manny Pacquiuao will show up at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood in the second week of May in preparation for the July 2 battle with Oscar Larios at the Araneta Coliseum. But if Pacquiao, arguably boxing’s most exciting fighter, doesn’t fly to Los Angeles, he will try to put the fight on hold. “I will ask them (promoter ABS-CBN) to cancel or postpone it,” Roach said from his room at the plush Discovery Suites in Pasig City. “There are lots of distractions while Manny is here and we can’t afford to take Larios lightly.” Roach was hoping to bring Pacquiao on a flight back to Los Angeles on Sunday night via Philippine Airlines, but the Filipino lefty requested that he stay for a few more days before reporting for work at the Wild Card. “It crossed my mind that Manny might not even go, but he guaranteed me that he would,” said Roach, who was joined here by lawyer Nicholas Khan. Roach said six weeks would be enough to train Pacquiao for Larios.
