Undefeated WBC no. 1 minimumweight contender Rodel Mayol yesterday looked impressive in his first 10-round sparring in Japan against newly-crowned OPBF minimumweight champ Akira Yaegashi, as he prepares for his May 6 challenge of WBC minimumweight king Eagle Kyowa.
Mayol and Yaegashi sparred at the Dream Gym (Higashi Joju), which is located in the Oji area in Tokyo.
Mayol hits the heavy bag during his training in Japan yesterday.
"Yes, I sparred ten rounds yesterday. My conditioning is really great. A Filipino engineer, Lito Magbujos, came to the gym to show his support," informed Mayol moments ago from his lair in Tokyo.
Tomorrow, Mayol is again set to do another 6-round sparring in the gym, while a press preview will be held on Monday where he will spar for two rounds in front of Japanese mediamen.
