Perspective: For the past few years, fight fans across the globe have questioned why we haven’t been able to see the mega fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. When it looked like everything was in place and the fight would happen, one perceived-to-be simple request turned into an immovable object, preventing any possible progress from happening. To date, seems that obstacle remains, but if ever there were light at the end of the tunnel, perhaps now is the time, as Pacquaio recently made a revelation that could very well serve as that proverbial ‘bridge’ to finally close the gap. Critics have pointed to possible banned substances while supporters have denied the notion at all cost, but lying beneath the surface of both those possibilities is a reality that few have talked about, yet many have questioned. That reality is the fact that perhaps Pacquiao was never dirty. Perhaps Mayweather’s intent was always clean. Perhaps somewhere at the center of the issues brewing within disappointed fans was a middleground that breeds the notion of Top Rank frontman Bob Arum simply sketching a script that any smart businessman would and simply doing what was necessary to protect his investment.
